An Ancient Science

Vedic Astrology, with its more than 5,000-year history, is a fascinating blend of human intuition and science. It’s amazing to think about how much ancient Indian astrologers knew about the cosmos. Interestingly, Neptune and Pluto are referenced in Indian texts from over 5,000 years ago, which is remarkable considering that modern astronomy didn’t officially discover Pluto until less than a century ago in 1930. This suggests these ancient systems had profound insights. Vedic Astrology, and all forms of Astrology in general, continue to evoke a wide array of reactions, from unshakeable belief to demeaning dismissal. Through my experience and interactions, I’ve encountered varying perspectives on Vedic Astrology. While scientific exploration and personal intuition guide my predictions, I’ve consistently encouraged my readers to evaluate my credibility by reviewing past predictions. Regrettably, many appear to bypass this step, opting instead for outright dismissal.

This dismissive stance offers valuable insights into human psychology. Over time, I’ve identified a pattern — a series of typical phases that individuals often navigate when dismissing Vedic Astrology, even as they are presented with mounting evidence. Below is a 21-stage (and growing!) guide that humorously captures these phases. You might want to review this list before posting your next comment. Who knows, you might find yourself at Stage 2 or 3!

Top 21 Phases of Dismissing Vedic Astrology

  1. Astrology is hooey, man! It’s fake, fraud, and a scam! The initial impulsive rejection, often asserted with absolute certainty.
  2. Anybody could have arrived at the same conclusions. Suggesting that astrology’s conclusions are commonly perceived and obvious to the general public.
  3. Anyone could have guessed that. It’s as random as a coin toss! Equating the staggering complexity of astrological predictions to a highly probable chance.
  4. You just got lucky, you one-trick pony! You one-hit wonder! Characterizing accurate predictions as crazy luck rather than skill or knowledge.
  5. You worship the devil! This is Satanic! Associating astrology with malefic forces and evil entities.
  6. Your gods are fake! Attacking and belittling the metaphysical and religious underpinnings of astrology and the astrologer.
  7. This is witchcraft! You’re Simon the Sorcerer! A historical stereotype based in religion, labeling astrology as manipulation using black magic and sorcery.
  8. Jesus is King! Repent now, sinner! Or I’ll condemn you to hell! Bringing religious condemnation into the conversation by citing the sacred scriptures.
  9. Can your astrology save lives? Can it stop crimes? Can it protect women in India? Can it predict severe weather events — earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, storms, floods, and more? Can it predict how much John will score in his next game? Or what I had for breakfast? Or even my name? Get outta here, $#@%!! All driven by a blind hatred for astrology, some folks dismiss its potential to answer even the simplest questions — without bothering to see if it’s already been proven capable of doing just that.
  10. You’re just a roadside fraud astrologer! Diminishing the astrologer’s credibility.
  11. Keep your fraud at the carnivals! Reducing astrology to entertainment rather than an insightful practice.
  12. Check his funding, FBI! Russian asset! Chinese asset! He’s a bot! Resorting to conspiracy theories to dismiss credibility.
  13. Bro, you need to be medicated! Launching personal attacks aimed at discrediting mental stability.
  14. You don’t know how science works. Criticizing astrology by falsely claiming the lack of adherence to the scientific method.
  15. Even a million correct predictions wouldn’t make it science! Refusing to acknowledge the scientific validity under any and all circumstances. (This one always gives me a chuckle. If Nobel Laureate Prof. Richard Feynman heard it, he’d probably turn in his grave! God save humanity and this current generation!)
  16. Correlation isn’t causation! The ultimate skeptic’s scientific refuge, often marking their eventual withdrawal from the conversation.
  17. Astrology is bunkum. Do you even understand precession? Questioning the fundamental astronomical basis on which astrology is built due to one’s blissful unawareness of how Vedic Astrology accounts for the axial tilt of the Earth.
  18. Ophiuchus and Cetus are new constellations that astrology is not even aware of! This proves once and for all that astrology is nothing more than a baseless sham! Arguing that the the discovery of new constellations undermines ancient astrological claims due to a blissful and overconfident lack of awareness of the fundamental principles of Vedic Astrology.
  19. The majority of Astrology is predicated on the Barnum Effect, Confirmation Bias, and the Dissociative Experience Scale. As such, it has been rejected by the Scientific Community! Criticizing Vedic Astrology based on human psychology and perceived scientific invalidation, then running for cover when undeniable evidence is presented for precise predictions involving non-human events such as rocket launches, machine performance, and natural disasters, where there is no human psychology involved!
  20. ChatGPT wrote the forecast! Mock the astrologer by asserting that the spot-on revelations were produced by AI, not by their own intuition.
  21. Endless personal attacks, vile insults, and unhinged abuse! Finally resorting to aggressive and personal abuse as a form of rejection, because the evidence in support of Astrology verily threatens the human ego and the mental structures that support their current understanding of reality.

Conclusion

These phases can be pretty amusing, but they also show how people grapple with understanding or rejecting astrology. It’s great to be skeptical — that’s totally normal and even encouraged. Still, it’s worth thinking about what Vedic Astrology might have to offer. If you’re interested in learning more, check out some of my articles and videos:
